Offline 3D Viewer for Windows

Inspect supported 3D files locally on Windows without uploading model contents, textures, project data, screenshots, or diagnostic logs.

Review local 3D assets without uploading model contents

Tridi Viewer is a native Windows application for opening supported 3D files from local storage. Geometry, materials, textures, animation, project state, and render output are processed on the device rather than sent to an Orcavia model-processing service.

This local workflow is useful when an asset is too large for a browser upload, contains confidential production data, depends on nearby texture files, or simply needs a quick inspection from File Explorer.

Common offline 3D viewer use cases

  • Review an FBX, GLB, OBJ, USD, Alembic, or CAD handoff on a Windows workstation.
  • Inspect a model that cannot be uploaded because of client, studio, or company policy.
  • Keep external textures, buffers, material files, and project dependencies in their original folder structure.
  • Check geometry, dimensions, animation, UVs, materials, and source topology before opening a larger DCC or CAD application.
  • Work with large local files without waiting for an upload and server-side conversion step.

What stays on the Windows device

Source models and their local dependencies are read from the workstation. Tridi can store settings, recent paths, logs, and generated import caches locally, and a saved .tridi project can preserve supported scene and workspace state. The application does not automatically upload models, screenshots, exported images, or diagnostic logs to Orcavia.

Diagnostic logs can contain local paths and project names, so review an exported log before sharing it manually. The privacy policy documents local storage, cache removal, store-platform counters, and the information included in an exported log.

Inspection features in a local workflow

Supported files can be reviewed with real-time PBR rendering, object and material inspection, source wireframe, UV View, render passes, animation playback, Mesh Validator, environment lighting, dimensions, project saving, render capture, and supported exports. Availability depends on the imported format and the active Free or Plus entitlement.

Use Windows file associations to open supported files from File Explorer, or drag a file into the viewport. The original source remains unchanged while you navigate and inspect it.

Where network and Store services can still appear

“Offline viewer” describes local model processing; it does not mean every product function is permanently disconnected from the internet. Microsoft Store can require a connection for installation, purchases, entitlement refresh, and updates. Store builds can also send fixed, content-free usage event names to the store platform as described in the privacy policy.

Those service interactions do not upload the model itself. If a workflow requires an isolated machine, verify installation, licensing, update, and organization policies before relying on the app in that environment.

Limits of a desktop viewer

Tridi Viewer focuses on opening, inspecting, diagnosing, and exporting supported model data. It is not a replacement for mesh modeling, sculpting, rig authoring, parametric CAD editing, slicing, or collaborative review systems that provide browser links and comments.

If sharing a live link is the main requirement, an online viewer may fit better. See desktop vs online 3D viewers for a practical comparison.
