Open supported files from File Explorer

The Microsoft Store package registers Tridi Viewer as an available Windows app for its supported model formats and native .tridi projects. Windows keeps control of your default-app choice; installing Tridi Viewer does not silently replace an existing default.

1. In File Explorer, right-click a supported model or .tridi project.
2. Choose Open with and select Tridi Viewer.
3. Choose the Windows option to make Tridi Viewer the default only when you want that extension to open in Tridi automatically.

Manage defaults from Tridi Viewer

Open Preferences > General > Default apps to review the current Windows association state. Manage in Windows opens the Windows settings page for the installed Tridi Viewer package so you can change file-type defaults using the operating system controls.

Tridi project thumbnails

The packaged app registers a Windows Explorer thumbnail handler for native .tridi projects. A valid saved project can provide its embedded project preview as the Explorer thumbnail, making project files easier to recognize before opening them.

Model-format associations use their format icon families. The custom thumbnail handler is for .tridi projects rather than a general thumbnail renderer for every supported 3D model format.

If an association does not appear

• Confirm that the Microsoft Store package is installed rather than an unpackaged development build.
• Use Open with or Manage in Windows to let Windows refresh the available handlers for that extension.
• If Windows still uses another application, change the default in Windows settings instead of reinstalling or renaming the source file.
