Model will not open

Check the file extension, source dependencies, import settings, and error message when a 3D model will not open.

Applies to Tridi Viewer 1.1.3 public beta. Release notes

Check the error first

Tridi Viewer shows Model failed to load when an accepted file cannot be imported. The message usually identifies an unsupported extension, missing file, missing dependency, or unsupported required data.

Quick checks

  1. Confirm the extension is listed in Supported 3D formats.
  2. Confirm the file still exists and can be read from the current Windows account.
  3. If Blender is installed and supports the format, try opening or importing the file there to check whether another 3D application can read it.
  4. For glTF, OBJ, or COLLADA, restore referenced buffers, material files, and textures to their expected relative paths.
  5. Check Preferences > Import for format-specific unit, axis, tessellation, or content settings, then reopen the model.
  6. If the file uses a documented unsupported feature, export a supported subset from the source application.

Still cannot open the model?

Contact support and include the app version, model format, exact error message, and an exported diagnostic log after reviewing it for private paths.
