Preview Gaussian Splats
Preview compatible Gaussian PLY, SOG, and SSOG sources in Tridi Viewer with the opt-in experimental Gaussian renderer.
Applies to Tridi Viewer 1.5.0 release. Release notes
Gaussian Splat Preview is an experimental, opt-in viewport renderer for compatible Gaussian data. Enable it in Preferences > Experimental before opening a Gaussian source.
Open a Gaussian source
- Enable Gaussian Splat in Preferences > Experimental.
- Choose Open or press Ctrl+O.
- Select a compatible Gaussian
.ply, bundled.sog, streamed.ssog, or an SSOG ZIP archive containinglod-meta.json.
A Gaussian PLY can also be added as a preview beside the active mesh. Ordinary polygon PLY files continue to use the standard mesh importer.
What the preview does
Tridi streams and samples large Gaussian PLY data to fit the active renderer capacity. Streamed SSOG sources update their bounded level of detail as the camera moves. This preview is designed for inspection, not as a canonical Tridi scene format.
Current limits
- Gaussian previews are not saved in
.tridiprojects or included in model export and Render Image. - They do not participate in mesh picking, selection, topology, UV, or material inspection.
- Initial archive and PLY decoding can take time, and transparent ordering or composition with mesh intersections is not guaranteed.
