Workspace and dockable panels

Learn how Tridi Viewer 1.4 dockable panels, status bar, footer, playback bar, and saved startup workspace fit around the 3D viewport.

Applies to Tridi Viewer 1.4.0 release. Release notes

Viewport-first workspace

Tridi Viewer starts from a full 3D canvas rather than a permanently occupied primary panel. Inspection tools attach around that canvas only when you need them.

Dockable inspection panels

Version 1.4 uses one shared dock system for six inspection panels:

  • Model Error for import and model diagnostics.
  • Dimensions for scene size, selected-object size, Up Axis, Scene Scale, and grid-related controls.
  • Objects for hierarchy, selection, visibility, and object inspection.
  • Materials for material selection and imported material resources.
  • Material Properties for the active material's textures, shading, and editable properties.
  • Validation for Mesh Validator results and performance metrics.

Panels can dock on the left or right, use independent widths, stack vertically, detach into floating windows, and snap back into the workspace.

Status bar, footer, and playback

  • The loaded-model Status Bar stays centered and provides compact inspector and Validation entry points.
  • A separate Footer shows file information such as path, date, size, and estimated VRAM usage. With no model loaded, it also provides the Open File surface.
  • The Playback Bar appears above the lower status area when a supported animation is available.

Save Current as Startup

Tridi Plus can save a model-independent startup snapshot from Project Actions. The snapshot can keep the last non-maximized window size, supported viewer presentation, and stable workspace or toolbar panels.

It does not reopen a model and does not preserve model-specific camera, selection, validation, animation, or transient session state. Reset Startup removes the explicit snapshot and returns startup presentation to the bundled defaults.
